What a great experience! I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese on Texas toast and it was phenomenal! Outside, there was a homemade donut station run by the friendliest person, so of course we had to try some. They even made the donuts fresh right in front of us, which was such a fun bonus for my 7-year-old to watch. The owner, who also prepared my breakfast sandwich, was incredibly kind and welcoming. Whether you're in the mood for a delicious breakfast or lunch, or just want to treat yourself to a sweet snack, this spot is absolutely worth a visit!
We have ordered two custom cakes and they were perfect. They looked beautiful (perfectly matching theme and colors!) and tasted amazing. She does great work!
Staying in Downtown Kalamazoo, I loved the name and decided to get breakfast here, and I am so glad I did. My bacon egg and cheese on a croissant was made fresh and was delicious! No dipping sauces required. The croissant was so buttery, and flavorful. I will be back when I have a sweet tooth for more treats.
I have ordered two cakes from Dessert First, a 50th birthday cake and a small wedding cake, and both were absolutely incredible! I really appreciated how easy they were to work with, and both cakes exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Dessert First for any special occasion!
Ordered a confetti cake for 7-10 people with vanilla buttercream frosting. We all agreed it was one of the most delicious cakes we have ever had! It easily could’ve fed another 5 people due to its 4 layers. I loved that they were able to put an oriole bird on it too! It was a very memorable cake and we will be ordering again!
The apple spice cake was amazing!!! And the banana pudding to die for! Great customer service and I could tell they had passion for what they do. Definitely a hidden gem you must stop for.

I cannot recommend Dessert First enough. We got a custom cake made for our daughter’s “Two Sweet” birthday party. It was a beautifully designed cake and tasted just as amazing. The customer service was also really great. I highly recommend!!
I was met with a smile and good morning when I walked in. The owner was so friendly and fun to talk to. I ordered the Sausage Egg & Cheese on a Croissant and it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to try a cupcake. If your in Kalamazoo, you gotta stop by.
Dessert First exceeded every expectation for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. I worked with Meka, who was incredibly responsive and collaborative; she perfectly executed my vision of replicating the look of my parents' original wedding cake from five decades ago. The two-tier cake was stunning, but the flavor was the true highlight. The lemon top tier and chocolate with chocolate mousse bottom tier were both exceptionally moist and rich. It is rare to find a cake that balances such beautiful artistry with genuine, high-quality taste. This local bakery is a Kalamazoo treasure and an absolute must-try
